European Modular Education and Training Programme in Safety Sciences for Medicines
Read more

SafeSciMET http://www.safescimet.eu presents a new and unique pan-European education and training network. In current drug safety education and training in Europe, an integrative and translational approach is lacking. SafeSciMET addressed this shortfall by developing and establishing a comprehensive modular Education & Training Programme in Safety Sciences for Medicines (SafesciMET).

One round of the 20 core courses available has been finalised. A second round is ongoing. Course teachers come from academia and industry throughout Europe, including Eastern Country States. Unique to the courses is that Industry brings in up-to-date and real cases.

SafeSciMET is part of the EU/EFPIA initiative Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), a public-private parthership. See (http://www.efpia.eu)  and (http://www.imi.europa.eu/) .

Uppsala universitet is responsible for the Student Office of SafeSciMET and gives two courses. Karolinska Institutet provides one course.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to an ICT held for the first time in Latin America, in a city that is the gateway to the Mayan World.

The Congress major theme is “Toxicology and Global Sustainability”. This meeting will offer a forum for sharing basic and applied research in Toxicology and is aimed to convene international scientists presenting their results related to the exposure to toxic agents, adverse effects, mechanisms of toxicity, preventive alternatives, normativity, etc, to strengthen the science-policy interface to faster the progress towards sustainability. The diverse sessions will provide a forum to exchange information, to establish collaborations and networking, and to discuss cutting-edge research.

As a Latin American country, Mexico is proud of the hospitality of its people and be home of 27 UNESCO´s World Heritage Sites, and it is extremely honored to host the XIV International Congress of Toxicology. Merida is known as the “White City”, and is considered as the cultural and tourist capital of the Mayan World. In addition, Merida is close to many delighting places, such as beautiful beaches of the Caribbean, small towns with colonial flavors, and the most important archeological sites of the Mayan culture: Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Mayapán and Kabah.

The Master’s Programme in Toxicology has been offered every second year since 1976 and was one of the first toxicology programmes world-wide. The program is still unique in its two-year cohesive program focusing on toxicology and human health risk assessment.

The program is directed to either Research or a Professional career. It is designed to provide a scientific knowledge base in toxicology and health risk assessment to meet the needs from: Universities, Industry and Governmental agencies.

The aim is to educate students with toxicological knowledge within principally three areas:

  • Basic and applied toxicological research
  • Toxicological investigations and testing
  • Regulatory toxicology and health risk assessment/safety assessment

The programme is a two-year, full-time programme and consists of compulsory taught components as well as an individual degree project and a possibility to take advanced elective courses.
